Passing The Certified Information Systems Exam At One Sitting(Part 1)
Introduction
Well, I got a lot of congratulatory messages in the Month of February when the result of my CISA exam came out and indeed I passed. Well, Pride is not a sufficient reason to write an article, hence I’m not writing this article because I’m proud. Rather, I’m writing this article because I have a passion to be a success and make disciples of others in this success business. In a nutshell, I passed CISA certification exam at one sitting and I want you too to pass. I strongly believe that there is a reasonable level of assurance that you will pass if you will make use of the stuff that I will put in this write – up.
Paying the examination Fee
The very first step to passing the CISA certification exam is to pay the examination fee at least four months to the exam. That will help your determination to take the exam. People withhold examination fee and continue to doubt whether they want to take the exam or not. My style towards professional exam has always been to pay for the examination immediately I registered. This creates a feeling of ‘no retreat and no surrender’. I know that I have paid for the exam, so I must sit for it. This will helps determination to start studying on time. This is more of a psychological approach anyway and though it is a radical step, but it works.
Getting Materials
The second step to passing the CISA certification examination is to get the necessary study materials and dive straight into the studying for the exam. Studying the materials listed below is sufficient enough to guarantee success in the CISA exam.
i. Current ISACA’S CISA study manual
ii. Current ISACA’S CISA study guide
iii. Michael Shannon’s CBT Nudget Video Series
iv. Current Question Database
These four materials, used with wisdom, are sufficient to ensure a very good passing score.
Where and How to Get the Materials
You can get the CISA study guide will be sent to you upon your registration with ISACA, and you can purchase the CISA Study Manual and the Question Database at the CISA online store if you have a credit card. These Materials are also available at the Amazon online store. Check CBT website for current information on their Nudget Video Series.
How to Use the Materials
There are 6 modules that you must study to pass the CISA examination and they are;
1. IS Audit process
2. IT Governance
3. Systems and Infrastructure Life Cycle Management
4. IT Service Delivery and Support
5. protection of Information Assets
6. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
There is another body of knowledge that will really help you and that is a proper understanding of Information Systems infrastructure in terms of Hardware, Software, Middleware, Networking and Telecommunications.
Follow the steps outlined below to use the CISA materials
1. Take a module, Go to the CISA study guide and find out what ISACA expects you to know and be able to do with that module…This is usually found in the tasks and knowledge areas.
2. Watch the CBT video, on that module
3. Then go to the question database and answer the questions on the module. Please take time to answer all the questions on the modules.
4. Review your answers and determine the areas where you have not demonstrated adequate understanding
5. Read the Study manual, taking the areas you have identified in the steps above as your area of concentration.
6. Go back to the question database and attempt all the questions again
7. Repeat Step 4 and 5
8. Watch the CBT video on the module again
9. Repeat Step 6 to 8 until you are scoring above 80% comfortably.
Please note gaining adequate understanding of each module does not require more than one week using this procedure. Hence, you can prepare for CISA exam within 6 weeks. However, I advise that you should plan to spend 8 weeks for your preparation.
